1. What the grant is
The grant consists of bonus funds in a Sciente wallet, in the amount specified on the programme page (₽10,000 by default), available for 30 days to work on a research article in Sciente. The grant is not a cash payment: it cannot be withdrawn, exchanged for money or transferred to another user.
The programme has 100 grants allocated by specialty (quotas). Sciente sets the number of grants, their amount, duration and quotas.
2. Who can apply
- A registered Sciente user who is a student, postgraduate, Candidate of Medical Sciences or Doctor of Medical Sciences.
- Applications can only be submitted from the account area (Settings → Grant), under one of the programme's specialties.
- A user may have one active application at a time. After rejection, another application may be submitted no earlier than 30 days later. The eligible date is shown in the account area.
- Each user may receive no more than one grant in the programme.
3. Quotas and the waiting list
If a specialty's quota is exhausted, the application joins that specialty's waiting list. Waiting-list applications are considered if the quota increases. The website's awarded-grant counter and remaining allocations by specialty reflect actual applications.
4. Application review
Sciente decides on the application. The user receives an in-app notification and an email to the address provided in the application. A rejection may include a reason and always includes the date from which another application may be submitted.
5. Crediting and duration
- Upon approval, the grant is credited to the wallet immediately. The 30-day period starts at the time of crediting.
- Grant funds are spent on work in Sciente at current prices and are charged before the user's own funds.
- Any unspent grant balance expires at the end of the period. A reminder is sent 3 days beforehand. The user's own funds do not expire.
6. Recipient obligations
- During the grant period, work on a research article in your Sciente project and identify that project in the Grant tab.
- After the article is published, report its publication details in the Grant tab: journal, DOI or link, and publication date. Sciente sends reminders 60 and 120 days after approval.
- If the journal's rules allow it, permit the work to be displayed in the Publications section of Sciente. Display is moderated and requires the author's consent to showing their name.
The work, its content and the rights to it remain with the authors. Sciente does not obtain access to the project text unless the author submits the work to Publications themselves.
7. Personal data
The applicant's full name, email address, academic degree, specialty and article topic are processed to decide on the application and contact the applicant. Full names and email addresses are stored in encrypted form. Processing is based on the consent given in the application form and follows the personal data processing consent and privacy policy.
8. Changes to the terms
Sciente may change the programme terms, the number of grants and the quotas. A new version is published on this page and applies to applications submitted after its publication. Grants already approved retain their amount and duration.
